“But’s” are for Billy Goats

The overused BUT word.

My dad used to joke that “but’s are for billy goats”. And he was right.

When you use ‘but’ in a sentence, it negates everything that you have previously said in that sentence. People only hear what comes after the ‘but’. If you want people to hear the whole sentence, replace the ‘but’ with ‘and’.

When you use ‘and’ it creates expansion. It means you can have it all, this and that, it gives you everything. ‘But’ limits you.

Sense the energy around these words.

You will also find that the energy around AND is one of accepting it all.  There is no fight in AND.

Here’s an example: I love you and this isn’t working.

Acceptance and love permeates the energy with AND.

It’s all true – this AND that.

There will be times when you definitely want to leave your audience with only the ending comment. And ‘but’ can be very effective in these cases.

The key is to be aware and conscious of the message you want to deliver and the words you choose to deliver that message with.

You may find that AND is what you choose to use most often now.

It’s a simple switch.  Be conscious of the words you use and what you wish to communicate.

Leave but for the billy goats and let AND be your best friend.

Words can change your life!
